Clifford W. “Bud” Derey, President
A native of Bristol, Tennessee and graduate of East Tennessee State University, Bud has been in construction for more than 30 years. As the president of the company, Bud’s strong work ethic manifests itself on the job every day – a commitment to quality and honesty is his number one priority.
Bud is an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Jessie, have been married for more than 40 years and have two children and five grandchildren.
Walt Derey, Vice President
Walt joined Pitman Construction in 1997, after playing football at the University of Virginia. As vice president he believes in approaching all projects as a team to provide clients with the best possible work Pitman can offer.
Walt serves on the board of the University of Virginia Alumni of the Roanoke Valley and the Roanoke Valley Boys and Girls Club. He coached football at Cave Spring High School and organized a youth football camp with UVA teammates Tiki and Ronde Barber. Walt and his wife, Meggan, have three children.
Bill Hart, Operations Manager
Bill has over 30 years in the construction world and has devoted his career to seeing that whatever project he is in charge of big or small - is done right. He is a Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi Alumni who now resides here in the Roanoke Valley. In his free time he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
John Averill, JR., Construction Supervisor
As a former Marine and over 27 years of construction experience you can be certain your project will be completed with attention to detail and perfection. He has worked on projects ranging from historic renovations to full home construction. He’ll make sure your home is left feeling just like that – a home. John is an avid tennis player and enjoys spending time in the great outdoors.
